Diverse and Sustainable Farming Practices

Dolores Richardson and her husband Dennis Pekush have been farming and raising Goats for 41 years. They are focused on sustainable and diverse farming practices that provide a healthy environment for their animals, and produce quality A2 Cow milk and Goat milk, meat, eggs and dairy products for the humans and pets who need them. In addition to the farm animals, Dolores and Dennis are Breeders of CKC Registered West Highland White Terriers and have in the past produced litters of Registered Kuvazs, an ideal Guardian breed for farm life. Dennis and Dolores have installed banks of solar panels to help meet the farm’s energy needs. Their animals are pastured and grassfed. The hay they are fed during winter months is harvested on land that supports the biological diversity necessary for balance and health. More About the Dolden Farm Landscape WordPress

Grassfed and Pasture Raised Beef

Grass-fed beef is rich in healthy fats, omega-3 acids, and vitamins and is raised without additives, and growth hormones. Grass-fed cattle are able to move freely on pasture and live the most natural lives possible, for as much of the year as possible. We also feed hay during the long, cold Saskatchewan winters. We focus on health, first and foremost. That means healthy land practices, healthy animals, and healthy people!

A2 Cow Milk & Goat Milk

A2 milk is a variety of cows’ milk that mostly lacks a form of β-casein proteins called A1, and instead has mostly the A2 form. The Dolden Farm has 2 milk cows who produce A2 milk with potential health benefits. Not only do Dolores and Dennis enjoy having the milk, cream and cheese for their own consumption, their dogs and chickens also share in the benefits of having A2 Cow milk as well as Goat milk added to their diets.

Dolden Goat Milk and Meat

As far back as 1988 we were active in the Goat show world. One of our goats earned her title as the West National Grand champion. She was also the second top milk producing Saanen doe in Canada that year. We were an official Milk test farm for eight years and were in the top 10 every year. Like A2 Cow milk, Goat milk proteins contain lower levels of α-s1-casein, the protein responsible for most allergic reactions to cow’s milk. Research has shown that certain other types of casein, such as α-casein found in Goat milk, have anti-inflammatory properties.

Exotic and Heritage Chickens & Guinea Fowl

The Dolden Farm is the proud home to several heritage and exotic breeds of chickens who produce tasty, and rich in flavour, eggs and meat. Our Heritage chickens include Buff Orpington, and Cuckoo Maran, as well as the only Canadian Developed heritage breed, the Chantecler. In addition to the Heritage and Exotic chickens found at the Dolden Farm, the presence of Guinea Fowl helps assure a low wood tick population. As the number of wood ticks increase, so do the disease they carry such as Lyme Disease.

Diversity and Sustainability in Farming Practices

The Dolden Farm is near White City, Saskatchewan. Dolores and Dennis have devoted over 40 years of hard work to their diverse and sustainable farming. Their expertise is what makes them successful as they raise and nurture healthy, award-winning livestock and purebred dogs.

Dolores and Denis constructed the solar panels pictured above. Solar energy is an important part of their energy needs on a busy farm.

Healthy Living at the Dolden Farm!

At the Dolden Farm we strive to produce the healthiest options for our animals and in the food for the people who need it!

Fresh Cow Milk or Goat Milk

All cows originally produced only the A2 protein in their milk, but over the years the A1 protein appeared as a genetic variation. Today, most milk comes from cows that produce both A1 and A2 protein in their milk. A2 Milk comes from cows that only produce A2 protein. The Dolden Farm cows produce A2 milk.

Goat Milk and Meat

Goat milk is a sweet, delicious alternative to cow or plan based milk with a number of potential health benefits. It is high in digestible protein, and often well tolerated by people with allergies to cow milk.
